What happened to Daario Naharis?

This is a photo of Michiel Huisman, playing the Daario Naharis character in Game of Thrones Season 4.
After Season 3, Skrein left Game of Thrones to star in The Transporter: Refueled. I understand that when Skrein left Game of Thrones, they had to replace the actor. What I don’t understand is why they chose Huisman to replace Skrein. Huisman looks nothing at all like Skrein. When I first saw Huisman in Season 4, I had no idea who the character was until they used the name “Daario” in a scene.
Why didn’t they attempt to make the Daario Naharis character look consistent from season 3 to season 4? How much does it cost to buy a bottle of blonde hair dye? Why couldn’t they make Huisman wear a blonde wig? Why didn’t they make Huisman shave his mustache and beard?
